The Rotary International Shelter Box Program
On Sunday 24th February, the Rotary Club of Bacchus Marsh held a Garden Party with a musical performance to raise funds for the purchase of two Shelter Boxes.
The function was held at the home of Rotarians Geoff Camm and Russell Gilbert.
Blessed with perfect weather, guests enjoyed wine and nibbles as they strolled around the newly established garden before taking their seats for the concert. Acclaimed duo Mirlyn featuring cellist Miriam Kriss and classical guitarist Lyndon Kriss who entertained them with a broad range of musical items from the Beatles to Segovia and Bach. After the concert Devonshire tea was served.
The Rotary International Shelter Box program delivers humanitarian aid and relief on a worldwide basis in the form of material and equipment that provides shelter, warmth and comfort to people displaced by natural and other disasters. Each box contains a 10 person tent, 10 thermal blankets, a multi fuel cooker and ancillary equipment such as water purification tablets, a torch and batteries, spade, rope etc. the basics a family would need after losing everything in a disaster. The cost of a complete Shelter Box is A$1,200. | ![]() |
Thanks to the good attendance and a number of generous donations, our Club raised enough funds through this event to purchase two Shelter Boxes.
