Farmyard Friends visit Grant Lodge
On Wednesday April 2nd, the Rotary Club of Bacchus Marsh sponsored a visit by Leigh’s Farmyard Friends to the Grant Lodge. Leigh’s farmyard Friends comprise a Shetland pony, sheep and lambs, goats, piglets, rabbits, ducks and hens.
The animals wander about the courtyard and are hand fed with chaff and grains by the residents. The animals are used to humans and so are gentle and placid. It was great to see the Grant Lodge residents interacting with these animals and staff commented that some residents who are normally somewhat withdrawn and uncommunicative expressed noticeable delight and enjoyment. Our Club has been funding this annual event for some time and all agreed that it is well worthwhile.
