Annual Art Show a Great Success

Chairman of the 37th Annual Rotary Art Show Neil MacDonald presented a cheque of $10,000 to President-Elect Bev Barnes - a truly great result after all costs had been paid.

Cheques of $1,000 each were also presented to the SES and Scouts in appreciation for their assistance in running this year's event. Rotary will use the money raised to fund projects in the Bacchus Marsh Community. Neil attributed the event's huge success to the untiring efforts of everyone who had helped.

This Art Exhibition & Sale provides many local artists, as well as artisis from all over Australia an opportunity to show their work. It's also a great opportunity for local people to view and purchase their work, thereby supporting the work Rotary does in the community. That makes this event benefical to all who are involved in it.

Vida Pearson (pictured right with Neil MacDonald)→ was one of the more distinguished artists who exhibited. Vida credited our Art show as one of the best ways to raise your profile as an artist based on her experience when she first started selling her work.

Featured Artist Richard Jones

Richard Jones ←(pictured left) was our Feature Artist this year. He came to Australia at the age of five showing a keen interest in art, winning a Sydney Morning Herald Award at eleven years of age. While Richard was attending Sydney university aged nineteen, he received an Australian Arts Council Award. In 1965 he studied under the legendary Mary Harding in Broken Hill.

Today, Richard's work hangs in many banks, galleries, offices and private collections throughout Australia and overseas.

Richard is a member of the Australian Guild of Realist Artists.

Many thanks to all of our very generous sponsors for their continued support. A special thanks goes to Diana Gibson for once again sponsoring the show's main awards. Grow West have now become a feature of the art show with their acquisitive prize. This prize encourages artists to interpret changes made to our environment and raises awareness of environmental issues in a very positive way.
