Aquatic Centre is now on the Agenda
The members of Bacchus Marsh Rotary Club believe that an indoor swimming pool / aquatic centre will be of benefit to a large percentage of the local community, e.g. young people, pregnant mums and toddlers, the elderly and infirm. Consequently, we have begun work with the Shire of Moorabool and within the community of Bacchus Marsh to raise the investment funds needed for this facility.
This project could cost up to $6 million and won't happen overnight or without considerable support from within the community. Three Rotary Club Presidents (this year and the next two years) have pledged their support for the project. Proceeds from our major fund rasing dinner with Li Cunxin "Mao's Last Dancer" on 16th May will go to this project. Moorabool Shire CEO, Robert Dobrzynski recently told local media that Bacchus Marsh should have a heated indoor pool and added that council should ensure it be built not for the present but for the future. | Joce Williams, David Stewart and Beverley Barnes |
Following a joint Rotary Club and Moorabool Shire visit to an aquatic centre in Benalla the Council has employed SGL Consulting to carry out a feasibility study into a centre for Bacchus Marsh. The study will recommend a suitable location, pool size and estimated costs, and is expected to be finalised within three months.
