BACCHUS MARSH: The Movie!
Bacchus Marsh is the focus of a new DVD released this week by the Rotary Club of Bacchus Marsh titled ‘Bacchus Marsh 2010'.
The DVD which runs for 60 minutes, covers a broad range of themes providing a comprehensive view of the Bacchus Marsh township including the town’s entrance, Main Street shopping centre, churches, schools and education, sport and recreation, history and the arts, parks and gardens, town services, health and well-being, industries and employers, transport, local government and the future.
‘Bacchus Marsh 2010’ was filmed and edited over a seven month period and is the brainchild of the Rotary Club of Bacchus Marsh President, Geoff Camm.
Struck by how much the town has changed over the past 20 years after watching a VHS film made in 1990 about Bacchus Marsh by former Rotarian Bob Butler, Geoff decided to make a new film representing the town in the twenty first century.
“Bob Butler’s film is invaluable as a record of what Bacchus Marsh was like at that time and includes some wonderful images from historic sources which show how Bacchus Marsh began and how it grew into a modern town, but if you wanted to show someone what Bacchus Marsh is like today the film needed updating,” said Geoff Camm.
“A number of people had commented to me how they would like to have something to send friends overseas showing the highlights and special features of the town which make Bacchus Marsh an interesting and attractive place to live and visit.”
“In the film I have tried to include people in as many scenes as I could so that it is not just buildings and scenery, you will recognise many familiar faces.”
“We have been fortunate to have ABC announcer and former Bacchus Marsh resident John Reid record the narration as he did for the earlier film by Bob Butler,” said Geoff Camm.
Also included are brief interviews with locally born celebrities such as author Pater Carey, chef Cath Claringbold and footballer Wayne Closter.
‘Bacchus Marsh 2010’ can be purchased for $15 from the Bacchus Marsh Library, Moorabool Council Customer Service office or online at:

The Rotary Club of Bacchus Marsh will also be releasing a DVD version of the historic film by Bob Butler produced in 1990 and both DVDs can be purchased together for $25.
All funds raised will be used to help finance Rotary Club of Bacchus Marsh projects within the local community.
