Printing Community Service

Rotary clubs world-wide share a common mission: to serve their local communities and improve the quality of life of those in need throughout the world. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence. They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development.

In Bacchus Marsh, Rotarians follow the motto of “Service Above Self” by enthusiastically volunteering their time and applying their many talents (often in association with other community groups & service clubs) to a wide range of projects aimed at making our community a better place to live.

Aquatic Centre for Bacchus Marsh
This is a long term commitment, and the role of Rotary is one of facilitating the efforts of the Shire in providing a facility appropriate to the health, sporting, educational, and recreational needs of the Bacchus Marsh community
Rotary Art Show
An annual event over the Queen's birthday long-weekend in June that has gained over the years, an outstanding reputation for the quality of the exhibition and competition. This year Western Water is sponsoring a special award for a portrait of water – something that conveys the relationship with country life and a rural environment
Cancer Council of Australia
Our Club has several members working on the Moorabool Shire’s organizing Committee, and we’ll be competing in the Relay for Life community event in March, and taking part in a Rotary International event (Ride to Conference) that raises funds for Ovarian Cancer. Russell Gilbert is also taking part in a fund raising bike ride that typically raises $10,000 for Ovarian Cancer research and development
Let’s Read Program
The Rotary Club of Bacchus Marsh initiated the introduction and now sponsors the Let's Read Program for families with children who live in the Shire of Moorabool. Let's Read is a pre-school, early intervention literacy program designed to prepare children for the formal process of learning to read.
Shelter Boxes
We like to fund another two of these to support international communities affected by disasters, and a garden party for this purpose is arranged for 24 February.
