We warmly extend an invitation to visitors of this website to make contact with us if you are interested in joining an organisation that serves both locally and internationally. If you are not in the Bacchus Marsh area that's not a problem. We'll happily talk with you about Rotary and then if you wish we'll introduce you to a Rotary Club serving your local community. Your interest would certainly be welcomed.

CLUB MEETINGS

Rotary Clubs meet weekly. This provides members with the opportunity to maintain their involvement with the Club, and enjoy fellowship with their colleagues. Attendance is not mandatory: apologies are! Each Club meeting follows a standard agenda, and includes a guest speaker presentation as well as regular items like member announcements, Sargeant-at-Arms, Club raffle. Bacchus Marsh meets on a Wednesday night, 6:30 pm for a 7 pm start, and concludes at 8:30 pm. Meetings are usually held at the Avenue Motel, Main Street, Bacchus Marsh. A Program Director lines up guest speakers, and all Club activities are published in the Club Bulletin distributed to all members. On occasions, the Club goes to other Clubs for shared meetings, sometimes goes on an industry visit to see other workplaces or sites of interest, and sometimes arrange special social occasions eg., the Club’s birthday, a lawn bowls competition.

CLUB FORUMS

Rotary Clubs work in a democratic manner. Several times each year, the Club holds a Club Forum where the agenda is open to all Club members. Issues are discussed with all those present on the night, and agreed decisions and points made, are followed up as a matter of Club policy.

CLUB STRUCTURE

Rotary has a number of avenues and programs for community service: Environment, Health, Vocational, International, Rotary Foundation, Youth, New Generations, Community.

Traditionally,.each Rotary Club sets up a number of Club Committees to which Rotarians are allocated and these Committees meet to decide on projects, fund-raising, and implementation of activities. Changes are taking place to this typical structure, and many Clubs are using a number of project teams specific to an activity or project instead of 4-5 Committees responsible for several projects. At Bacchus Marsh, we have a mix: eg., we have a Fund-Raising Committee and an Art Committee, and we have a number of project teams dealing with specific things like Clean Up Australia Day, Let’s Read.

MEMBERSHIP

New members are welcome, and are introduced by current members. Usually, a new member attends a number of meetings, and if interested in joining, meets with two Rotarians to discuss their involvement and the work of Rotary International. A formal induction takes place to complete the process.

Membership subscriptions are distributed twice per year, and contribute to administrative services provided by the District, a journal distributed by Rotary DownUnder, and Club operations.
