Relay For LIFE

This year the Moorabool Relay For Life will be held on the 18th & 19th September. By moving the event to the weekend before the Footy Grand Final the volunteer committee have been able to secure Maddingley Park in Bacchus Marsh for all future events.

FUN at last year Relay For Life

Everyone is Welcome!

Last year over 500 local residents enjoyed the FUN & Festive Atmosphere of the 18 hour fund raising event that supports the Cancer Council’s research, education and support programs. It’s now a good time to start planning your involvement in this year’s event.

Our Newest Member

Keith CurriePresident Geoff welcomed Keith Currie to the club. Keith was born in 1953 in Tokyo. It is said his father was a spy at the time. Later the family moved to Canberra. Keith studied science and is now an Assistant Principal at  Bacchus Marsh Grammar School. (Gee another educator, that takes the club to over 10% of our members from the education field). Keith is not new to Rotary having been a member of Gawler Light, and Albury clubs. He has had lots of experience in the student exchange program. Our club is looking forward to Keith’s contributions. There was almost a blood letting as our President with Parkinson’s and Keith’s sponsor James with optical challenges tried to put Keith’s pin on him.

Alf Wignell Award

This week the Alf Wignell award was presented to Peter Shilton by last week’s recipient Emma Done. She felt Peter gives Great Service to Rotary with his wonderful program work, supplying speakers that give her an opportunity to hear about subjects she never would have come across in her everyday work contacts. It makes her Wednesday nights a highlight. Emma also included organising the Bunning’s BBQ rostering and onion cutting.

Visitors are most Welcome

Geoff CammWe warmly extend an invitation to visitors of this website to make contact with us if you are interested in joining a community service organisation that works both locally and internationally.

If you are not in the Bacchus Marsh area that's not a problem. We'll happily talk with you about Rotary and then if you wish we'll introduce you to a Rotary Club serving your local community. Your interest would certainly be welcomed.

Next page: Rotary Changeover

Rotary is a worldwide organisation of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. Approx. 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 32,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas.

The main objective of Rotary is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence. They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development.
